TUMPUAN (URBAN INTERVENTION)

(Project 1A)

Rendered perspective night view.JPG

“Urban Interventionism is a name sometimes given to a number of different kinds of activist design and art practices, art that typically responds to the social community, local identity, the built environment, and public places. The goals are often to create new awareness of social issues, and to stimulate community involvement.” Wikipedia.

Each of the groups will be assigned to a particular Zone (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5 & Z6) as highlighted in the APPENDIX 1. The groups are required to carry out an urban intervention involving folly design to the Zone assigned - “Urban Folly”. The outcome of the project should be achieved by understanding the characteristics of the Zone through its culture, heritage and history, which will be part of the Site Analysis. The objective of these follies is to improve social spatial, public space for better engagement to the users.
The proposed “Urban Folly” should have the following scope encompassed:
● To identify and analyse the characteristic of the Zone assigned;
● To study the proposal possibilities and ideas within Terengganu or abroad (online search) to gain good precedents
● To propose the “Urban Folly”, which will enhance the existing zone through the concept of urban intervention.
